What is Bio-Based PU

Bio-based polyurethane (Bio-based PU) is an environmentally sustainable variant of polyurethane. Unlike conventional PU that relies on petroleum as a key raw material, it is partially or fully manufactured using renewable biological feedstocks-such as plant-derived oils (e.g., castor oil, soybean oil) or lignin. Its core advantages lie in a lower carbon footprint during production and use, as well as inherent potential for biodegradability, which makes it a viable eco-friendly substitute in the polyurethane family.
